The descent of the Ardèche remains a highlight for those who have never done it. As a family, with friends or in a group, canoeing down the Ardèche gives you access to the heart of this incredible gorges nature reserve.

At the campsite, we offer our customers the privilege of renting their canoe kayak directly on site and leaving from our beach for the 24km or arriving for the 8 or 13km with no time constraints.

Even if you are not staying at the campsite, you can come and rent your boat from us. Park your car directly at our campsite, so you don’t have to worry about time constraints.

You’ll be in the water in no more than 15 minutes!

La Rouvière campsite is one of the few campsites in Vallon Pont d’Arc in Ardèche on the banks of the river.

La Rouvière campsite is located in the village of Vallon Pont d’Arc in the Ardèche department. The Ardèche is a department rich in culture, art and heritage.

Our campsite is ideally located for discovering must-see tourist sites such as the Ardèche gorges, the nature reserve and the Pont d’Arc.

Based at the very beginning of the gorges, at the entrance to the nature reserve, our campsite is spread over a 4-hectare natural area? We offer camping pitches for mobile homes, canvas bungalows, group tents or free-standing tents, caravans, van or motorhome.

In Ardèche, many natural sites are protected and only accessible by hiking or canoeing. We have adapted to this beautiful environment to allow you to take full advantage of this department steeped in history and rich in tourist attractions.

The descent of the Ardèche by canoe is accessible to everyone. Here are all our routes – excluding break times :

  • The 8 km descent – Duration 1h30 : the start of the course, which lasts around 1h30 without your breaks, begins at the Pont de Salavas and ends at our beach where our nautical base is located, with a passage under the Pont d’Arc. The descent, including the crossing of small rapids, is easy to access and there are no time constraints for the return trip.
  • The 13 km descent – Duration 3h30: the course is made up of 5 fun and sensational slides with a passage under the Pont d’ Arc and small rapids. Forget the weather and take recreational or idle breaks along the way. No time constraints as for the 8km. The arrival is on our beach instead of your parking lot, no need to wait for the return shuttle. Enjoy a picnic or a tanning session, take your time.
  • The 24 km descent – Duration the day: from our private beach, discover the gorges, the cliffs and the nature reserve. Bring your picnic, water, towels and sun protection – you’re in for a real treat all day long. This descent of the Ardèche by canoe takes you to the beach of Sauze in Saint-Martin-d’Ardèche – meeting point for the return by shuttle.
  • The 32 km descent – Duration 1 or 2 days: depending on your ability to paddle quickly. This descent is aimed more at sportsmen or at all those wishing to discover the entire canyon rather over two days without hurrying. If you want to do it over two days you can start with the 8 km route or the 24 km route. It’s up to you. We offer various types of camping accommodation, but you can also choose to spend the night in a bivouac.
  • The 37 km descent – Duration 2 days: All-inclusive package with a 1st day of descent followed by an overnight stay at La Rouvière or in a bivouac. 2nd day of canoeing, arriving at Sauze/Saint-Martin + pick-up and shuttle back to the campsite with or without overnight stay in a bungalow, mobile home or pitch, depending on your booking, and continue to enjoy the scenery of the Ardèche Gorges.

Your partner Ardèche-bateaux provides quality equipment. We will answer all your questions and provide all the advice so that your descent of the Ardèche by canoe or kayak remains a unique and magical experience.

All necessary equipment will also be provided for safe navigation.

You can also choose to be accompanied by a guide (state-certified instructor) allowing you to take children under 7 years old and navigate in complete safety. These professionals are able to make you discover all the specificities and the nature of the gorges.

For safety reasons, school groups and vacation camps must be accompanied by one person for every 15 participants. By accompanying you, they will also make you benefit from their knowledge of the fauna, flora and natural wealth of the Ardèche gorges.

The key word at the bottom of the gorges: take the time to live and appreciate the present moment.

The descent of the gorges is a moment of relaxation and not a competition. At the end of the descent, you will be taken back to the campsite thanks to our shuttles for those who have chosen the descents of 24, 32 or 37km. The other routes arrive directly on the campsite beach.

When you arrive, take advantage of the snack bar terrace. Quench your thirst, have something to eat, rest a little before leaving to enjoy the entertainment organized by the campsite or outdoor activities such as the cinema, discos, street shows or night market.

The descent of the Ardèche is accessible to children from 7 years old. Group rates apply to groups of 8 or more.

It is possible to choose the formula with accommodation or bivouac from ten euros more per person. Reservation is not compulsory. You can decide to do the descent of the Ardèche in ‘ last minute ‘.
